Diwali is close being over this year but I hope the spirit and joy of the festival stays with us forever. I wanted to share some home decor ideas I did for this festive season. I brought the traditional Indian cushions covers with intricate golden design out to my sofa. It blends in elements of my ethnic culture with the modern, flat, clean sofa design. Also, the Moroccan white and silver plate on my mid-century modern coffee table besides the knitted grey poofs create such an eclectic blend with my otherwise contemporary living room. The bling from gold and silver fills my heart with festive joy! 🙂
I have a very small balcony but the brightness from the lights transcends to my face.
The orchids vases on earthy cane kitchen mats, with the floral kundan divas and lighting set perfect mood for this festive season…. welcoming all the positive energies home..
I have Ganeshjis idol (Vighnaharta – the remover of obstacles) facing my front-entrance. I believe it brings in so much positivity into the house. I have decorated the area with ready-made kundan rangolis.
The entrance is adorned with rangoli print molds of Ganeshji, Laximiji and Saraswatiji.
The traditional entrance hanging ‘Shub Labh’ invites good luck and charm into the house.
My cute little mandir (devghar) with prasad and other offerings.
My dining area decorated with traditional brocade table cloth and table runner. If you have an old saree with good border that you’d no longer wear, it’s a good idea to convert it into an ethnic table cloth and runner. I had this leftover material from one of my wedding outfits. I love the fusion of pink and golden. You could use a combination of bright and light to make the colors contrast and popIt looks so festive! 🙂
